The War Goes On
Base10 has been closely following the war in Lebanon, but it's outcome is unclear. A couple of things:
- Israel is turning up the heat on Hezbolah with a massive ground incursion. They are now pushing toward the Litani river. Some commentators are suggesting that this is what Israel should have been doing all along.
- In a daring raid deep into Lebanon town of Baalbek, Israeli special forces raided a Hezbolah "hospital" and captured several mid-level militants. The "hospital" was curiously devoid of patients and was being used as a base of operations. Hezbolah retaliated by firing 200 rockets indiscriminately at civilian targets in Israel and for the first time hit the West Bank.
- Whacky
Hezbolah-lovingformer Attorney General Ramsey Clark and his moonbat buddies atthe ComminternInternational Answer want President Bush impeached for his support of Israel. - It is possible to be cautiously optimistic about a real international solution to this crisis. The UN may be ready to put together an actual international force to secure Lebanon's border. The US and Israel's requirement that the situation not return to the status quo seems to be sticking.
