Harriet Who?
President Bush announced yesterdayu the nomination of White House counsel Harriet Miers to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
And you thought John Roberts was a stealth nominee! Miers was never even a judge. Base10 is sure Miers is a wonderful human being, but this is a candidate nobody likes. She's not conservative enough for the right and is too mysterious to left for them to blindly accept. Many pundits are suggesting that this was a compromise pick that had the tacit approval of Harry Reid. This may be the case, since the President, battered as he may be in the polls, is trying to take back his domestic agenda.
It's hard to really have an opinion on Miers. There's just nothing there yet to comment on. As the process continues we'll learn more, but I doubt very much more.
