Bush is a Religious Zealot!

At least that's what the BBC wants you to think. Or it's what they think themselves. That's the only way to explain recent news items regarding the President. The Beeb was producing a documentary on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and interviewed several ministers in the Palestinian Authority. The quote one as saying that Bush said God told him to invade Iraq. So Bush is a zealot, right? Actually PA president Mahmoud Abbas made a more measured statement that Bush told him he had a moral and religiouis duty to achieve peace in the Middle East. That's actually a quality the President should have.

I tend to scoff at the recollections of the Palestinian ministers because:

1. We all know how credible Palestinian official statements to the media can be.

2. Any statement hear by them is through two layers of translators.

3. These guys themselves punctuate every single sentence with "God willing!" or "Allah willing!"

Links later when I get to work.

UPDATE: The White House is suggesting that such statements are--how shall we say--piffle. Here's the original story in al-Reuters.
